וְעוֹד כַּמָה עִנְיָנִים רָעִים נִסְבָּב עַל יְדֵי חֵטְא הַמַר שֶׁל לָשׁוֹן הָרָע, כְּגוֹן, מִדַּת הָאַכְזָרִיּוּת הַגְּרוּעָה וּמִדַּת הַכַּעַס, שֶׁהוּא עָוֹן חָמוּר, כְּמוֹ שֶׁהִפְלִיגוּ חֲזַ"ל בְּשַׁבָּת (דף ק"ה), וְגַם כַּמָה פְּעָמִים בָּא עַל יְדֵי זֶה לְלֵיצָנוּת וְלִשְׁאָרֵי מִדּוֹת רָעוֹת כַּיּוֹצֵא בָּהֶן. עַל כֵּן, עַל כָּל דִּבְרֵי הַפְּתִיחָה הַזֹּאת, שֶׁמִמֶנָּה נוּכַל לְהָבִין אֶת גֹּדֶל הקִלְקוּל הַבָּא עַל יְדֵי לָשׁוֹן הָרָע וּרְכִילוּת, בֵּאֲרָה לָנוּ הַתּוֹרָה בְּפֵרוּשׁ אִסוּר זֶה, וְכָתְבָה עָלֶיהָ לָאו מְיֻחָד וְהוּא (ויקרא י"ט ט"ז): "לֹא תֵלֵךְ רָכִיל בְּעַמֶיךָ" יוֹתֵר מֵעַל כָּל הַמִדּוֹת רָעוֹת, וּכְמוֹ שֶׁכָּתַבְנוּ בִּתְחִלַּת הַפְּתִיחָה, וּבָזוֹ נִשְׁלָם הַפְּתִיחָה.
And yet other evils stem from the bitter sin of lashon hara, such as the base trait of cruelty and that of anger, which is a grave sin, as Chazal dilate upon in Shabbath (105b). And very often it leads to levity and to other evil traits of the kind. Therefore, form all the words of this introduction, from which we can understand the greatness of the harm wrought by lashon hara and rechiluth, the Torah has explicitly delineated this issur, assigning to it a distinct negative commandment (viz. Vayikra 19:16): "Do not go talebearing among your people" more than any of the other evil traits, as we have written in the beginning of our introduction; and the Introduction is hereby completed.
И ещё множество дурных вещей происходит из-за горького греха лашон а-ра (злословия), например, дурное качество жестокости и качество гнева, который является тяжким грехом, как указывали мудрецы в Шаббат (лист 105), и также множество раз из-за этого приходят к насмешничеству и прочим дурным качествам, подобным им. Поэтому, на основании всех слов этого Введения, из которого мы можем понять великий масштаб разрушения, причиняемого лашон а-ра и рхилут, Тора прямо разъяснила нам этот запрет и написала для него особый запрет (Ваикра 19:16): «Не ходи сплетником в народе твоём» — более, чем для всех прочих дурных качеств, как мы написали в начале Введения. И на этом завершается Введение.
