וּלְבַד זֶה חֲסֵרָה לְהַרְבֵּה אֲנָשִׁים יְדִיעָה בְּעִנְיַן אִסוּר קַּבָּלַת לָשׁוֹן הָרָע, שֶׁאִסוּרוֹ הוּא אֲפִלּוּ לְהַאֲמִין בַּלֵּב לְבַד, רַק לָחוּשׁ מִבָּעֵי {צריך} {נדה ס"א}. וְעוֹד הַרְבֵּה עִנְיָנִים כַּיּוֹצֵּא בָּזֶה בְּעִנְיַן קַבָּלַת לָשׁוֹן הָרָע וּרְכִילוּת אֲשֶׁר אִי אֶפְשָׁר לְבָאֲרָם פֹּה. וְאַךְ אֵינָם יוֹדְעִים אֵיךְ לְתַקֵּן אֶת הַדָּבָר, אִם עָבַר עַל אִסוּר סִפּוּר לָשׁוֹן הָרָע וּרְכִילוּת וְקַבָּלָתָם.
Add to this that many men lack a fundamental understanding of the prohibition of receiving lashon hara — that it applies even to believing it in the heart [and not only to repeating it (though one is permitted to "suspect" it to be true, viz. Niddah 61a)]. The same is true of many similar instances in the area of receiving lashon hara and of rechiluth [talebearing], which cannot be specified here. And they also do not know how to make amends if they have transgressed the prohibition of speaking lashon hara and of receiving it.
И помимо этого, многим людям недостаёт знания в вопросе запрета принятия лашон а-ра (злословия), а именно: что запрещено даже просто верить этому в сердце, а следует лишь опасаться (Нида 61). И ещё много подобных вопросов в области принятия лашон а-ра и рхилут (сплетен), которые невозможно разъяснить здесь. И люди не знают, как исправить содеянное, если уже нарушили запрет рассказывания лашон а-ра и рхилут и их принятия.
