וַאֲשֶׁר הַצֹּרֶךְ אֲלֵיהֶם יוֹתֵר לְעִנְיַן הָעוֹלָם הִיא הַחָכְמָה הַתַּחְתּוֹנָה אֲשֶׁר הִיא חָכְמַת טִבְעִי הַגּוּפוֹת וּמִקְרֵיהֶן. וְהַחָכְמָה הַתִּיכוֹנָה שֶׁהִיא חָכְמַת הַשִּׁמּוּשׁ וּשְׁתֵּי הַחָכְמוֹת הָאֵלֶּה מוֹרוֹת עַל כָּל סוֹדוֹת הָעוֹלָם הַזֶּה וְתוֹעֲלוֹתָיו וַהֲנָאוֹתָיו מִמֶּנּוּ. וּמוֹרוֹת עַל כָּל עִנְיְנֵי הַמְּלָאכוֹת וּמִינֵי הַתַּחְבּוּלוֹת הַצְּרִיכוֹת לַגּוּפוֹת וּלְעִנְיְנֵי קִנְיְנֵי הָעוֹלָם.
The sciences whose use is closest to worldly matters is the science of nature, which is the lowest science and the practical science, which is second. These two sciences instruct on all the secrets of the physical world, its uses and benefits, its industries and trades and is conducive to physical and material well-being.
То, в чём потребность больше для мирских дел, — это низшая наука, то есть наука о свойствах тел и их проявлениях. А также срединная наука — прикладная наука. Обе эти науки раскрывают все тайны этого мира и его пользу и наслаждения от него. И указывают на все виды ремёсел и способы, необходимые для тел и для приобретения мирского.
