אמרה הנשמה – אך זה אינני מבינה. עד שנאמר שמההשפעה נבראו בריות - הנה טוב, אך מהעדר השפעה איך יבראו בריות? הנה מהעדר לא יולד מציאות. ואם כן לא נמלט מאחת משתים, או שצריך לומר שהקב"ה ברא הרע בקום עשה ממש, או שלא היה אפשר לו בריאה ומציאות:
Said the Soul - But this I don't understand. When it was said that from the G-dly emanation creations were created this was good, but from the absence of G-dly emanation how can creations be created? Existence is not born through absence. And if so we can't escape from one of the two, either you need to say that the Holy One blessed is He created negativity through actual action, or that it was impossible for it to have creation or existence.
Сказала Нешама — Но этого я не понимаю. До того, чтобы сказать, что от влияния сотворены творения, — хорошо; но как от отсутствия влияния могут быть сотворены творения? Ведь из отсутствия не родится существование. И если так, не остается одного из двух: либо нужно сказать, что Святой, благословен Он, сотворил зло настоящим активным действием, либо что не было у него возможности [быть] творением и существованием.
