אמר השכל – עתה צריכים אנו לבא אל הדרגת זמני הנשמה והגוף, ומצביהם השונים האלה. אבל עוד הקדמה אחת צריך להקדים מתחלה, והוא, כי זה פשוט שהרבה חוקים ודרכים הרבה צריכים כדי להשלים לכל עניני האדם, ולכל עניני הבריאה בכל זמניהם; וכבר נאמר (תהלים מ, ו), "רבות עשית אתה ה' אלקי נפלאותיך ומחשבותיך" וגו', ונאמר (תהילים צב, ו), "מה גדלו מעשיך ה'", (תהלים קד, כד), "מה רבו מעשיך ה'" וגו'. אך על כל פנים צריך שיהיו הפרטים נכנסים ובאים תחת הכללים, והכללים לא יהיו כל כך, אבל פרטיהם הם שיהיו רבים, ויספיק לכל הצריך בכל הבריאה הזאת:

However in any event the details need to enter and come under the general rules, and the general rules are not so may, but their details are many, and are adequate for all that is needed in this creation:
Сказал Сехель — теперь нам нужно прийти к ступеням времен Нешамы (Души) и тела и к их различным состояниям. Но еще одно предисловие надо предпослать сначала, а именно: ведь это очевидно, что много законов и много путей требуется, чтобы завершить все дела человека и все дела творения во все их времена; и уже сказано (Теилим 40, 6): «многое сделал Ты, Г-сподь, Б-г мой, — Твои чудеса и Твои замыслы» и т. д., и сказано (Теилим 92, 6): «как велики дела Твои, Г-сподь», (Теилим 104, 24): «как многочисленны дела Твои, Г-сподь» и т. д. Но во всяком случае нужно, чтобы частности входили и приходили под общие принципы; и общих принципов не будет так много, а вот их частности будут многочисленны — и этого хватит для всего нужного во всем этом творении.
