ברכות קריאת שמע דערבית: והנה עיקר ענין זה בבקר שאז הוא התחדשות המציאות כמ״ש ואולם בלילה הנה נוסף ענין בבריות כלם לפי ענין הלילה ואין זה אלא כמו גמר ענינו של היום והשלמתו. ובבחי׳ זו ג״כ סידרו ברכות ק״ש של הערב כפי ברכות ק״ש של שחרית אך יותר בקצרה כי אינו אלא חזרת הדברים בקיצור כפי מה שמתחדש בסדרי ההנהגה נמשך אחר מה שנתחדש ביום. ועוד הוסיפו ברכה על ענין מנוחת הלילה והשינה בכל בחינותיה והיינו ברכת השכיבנו:
The blessing over the recitation of Shema in the evening: And see that the essence of the matter is in the morning, as the renewal of existence is then - as we have written. Nevertheless, new content is added to the creatures at night, according to the character of the night. But this is only like the end of the content of the day and its completion. And from this angle, they also arranged the blessing over the recitation of Shema in the evening to be just like the blessings over the recitation of Shema in the morning - only shorter. For it is only a review of the things in short - just like that which renews itself in the arrangements of [God's] direction flows from that which was renewed during the day. And they also added a blessing over the matter of rest at night, and over sleep in all of its aspects - and that is the blessing [that begins], "Lay us down."
Благословения чтения Шма вечерней службы: Главное содержание этого предмета — утром, ибо тогда происходит обновление бытия, как было сказано. Однако ночью к созданиям добавляется нечто сообразно природе ночи, и это есть лишь завершение и дополнение дневного предмета. В этом аспекте также были установлены благословения вечернего Шма по образцу утренних благословений Шма, но в более краткой форме, ибо это лишь повторение вещей в сокращении — сообразно тому, что обновляется в порядках управления вслед за обновлённым днём. Ещё было добавлено благословение о ночном покое и сне во всех его аспектах — а именно благословение "а-Машкивейну."
