והנה ממה שצריך שיגביר האדם בעצמו הוא האהבה והיראה לבוראו ית׳ והיינו שיהיה מתבונן על גודל רוממותו ית׳ ועוצם שפלות האדם ויכניע עצמו לפניו ית׳ ויבוש מרוממותו ויהיה חושק ומתאוה להיות מן העובדים לפניו להתהלל בתהלתו ולהשתבח בגדולתו כי אלה הם אמצעיים חזקים המתקרבים האדם אל בוראו המזככים את חשך החומר ומזהירים זהרי הנשמה ומעלים את האדם מעילוי לעילוי עד שישיג קרבתו ית׳:
And see that one of the things that one must increase in himself is the love and fear of his Creator, may He be blessed. And that is that he reflect on the greatness of His loftiness, may He be blessed and the tremendous lowliness of man; and [that] he humble himself in front of Him, may He be blessed, and be meekened by His loftiness. And he should want and desire to be from those that serve in front of Him, and [by such an association] be praised by His praise and lauded by His greatness. For these are solid ways that draw a man close to his Creator, purify the darkness of the material, make shine the light of the soul and elevate man form one elevation to [another], until he reaches closeness to Him, may He be blessed.
Из того, что человеку необходимо укрепить в себе, — это любовь и трепет пред своим Творцом, да будет Он благословен. А именно: он должен размышлять о величии Его возвышенности, да будет Он благословен, и о глубине собственной низости, и смирять себя пред Ним, да будет Он благословен, и стыдиться Его возвышенности. И он должен стремиться и жаждать быть среди служащих пред Ним, прославлять Его хвалу и восхвалять Его величие. Ибо всё это — мощные средства, приближающие человека к его Творцу, очищающие тьму материи, озаряющие лучами души и возвышающие человека от ступени к ступени, пока он не достигнет близости к Нему, да будет Он благословен.
