עה״ז ועה״ב: ואמנם גזר טובו ית׳ שיהיה גבול להשתדלות הזה המצטרך לאדם להשיג השלימות וכשהשלים השתדלותו ישיג שלימותו וינוח בהנאתו לנצח נצחים ע״כ חוקקו לו ב׳ זמנים א׳ זמן העבודה וא׳ זמן קיבול השכר. ואולם מדת הטוב מרובה שעבודה יש לה זמן מחוקק כמו שגזרה חכמתו ית׳ היותו נאות לזה וקיבול השכר אין לו תכלית אלא לנצח נצחים הוא מתענג והולך בשלימות אשר קנה לו:
This world and the next world: However His Goodness, may He be blessed, decreed that there be a limit to this striving that is required for a person to acquire perfection and that when he finishes his striving, he obtains his [level of] perfection and is left with his enjoyment for ever and ever. Therefore two time periods were designed for him - one is the time for work and one is the time for receiving the reward. However the [divine] attribute of good is greater, such that the work has a [limited] time, as His Wisdom, may He be blessed, decreed be appropriate for it. But there is no end to the receiving of reward. Rather one delights and continues with the perfection that he acquired for himself for ever and ever.
Олам а-Зэ и Олам а-Ба: И вот, Его благо, да будет Он благословен, определило, чтобы был установлен предел тому усилию, которое требуется от человека для достижения совершенства. И когда он завершит своё усилие, он обретёт своё совершенство и будет покоиться в наслаждении во веки веков. Поэтому установлены для него два периода: один — время служения, и другой — время получения награды. И мера блага преобладает: ибо для служения есть установленный срок, как определила Его мудрость, да будет Он благословен, чтобы он был для этого подобающим, а получение награды не имеет предела — но вечно наслаждается и продвигается в совершенстве, которое обрёл себе.
