הנה אדה״ר בעת יצירתו היה ממש באותו המצב שזכרנו עד הנה דהיינו שהנה הוא היה מורכב מב׳ החלקים ההפכיים שאמרנו שהם הנשמה והגוף ובמציאות היו ב׳ הענינים הטוב והרע והוא עומד בשיקול ביניהם להדבק במה שירצה מהם והנה היה ראוי לו שיבחר בטוב ויגביר נשמתו על גופו ושכלו על חומרו ואז היה משתלם מיד ונח בשלימותו לנצח:
Behold that at the time of his formation, the first man was completely in the situation that we have mentioned until now. This means that he was surely joined from the two opposite parts that we mentioned - which are the soul and the body. And there were the two [possibilities] in the world - the good and the evil, and he stood between them evenly, to cleave to the one of them that he would want. And it was surely fitting for him to choose the good, that his soul should win over his body and his spirit over his materiality; and then he would have been perfected immediately and stayed in his perfection forever.
Адам, первый человек, в момент своего сотворения находился именно в том состоянии, которое мы описывали до сих пор, а именно: он состоял из двух противоположных частей, о которых мы говорили, — Нешамы (души) и тела. И в бытии существовали два свойства — добро и зло, и он стоял в равновесии между ними, чтобы приобщиться к тому из них, к какому пожелает. И ему надлежало выбрать добро и возвысить свою душу над телом и свой разум над материей, и тогда он немедленно достиг бы совершенства и покоился бы в своём совершенстве вечно.
