והנה בהתגבר שפע הנבואה על הנביא יצא מהרגשותיו וחושיו וישתקע כמו בשינה ותשאר מחשבתו כמחשבת הישן וחולם ואז תמשך לו הנבואה. ואמנם אפשר שיגיע הדבר הזה אל הנביא בעת יקיצתו על הדרך שזכרנו ואפשר שבשכבו על מטתו בחלום הלילה תמשך לו הנבואה. אמנם עכ״פ לא תגיעהו הנבואה אלא אחר היות חוץ מחושיו ומשוקע באותה התרדמה. אמנם אפשר שיקרה הדבר במיעוט זמן וישוב תכף אל מצבו הראשון אלא שבעת הנבאו יצא מן ההרגש ונשתקע בתרדימה לשעה עד שיקבל הנבואה:
And behold that when the flow of prophecy comes upon the prophet, he departs from his perceptions and his senses and is shut down as in sleep; and his thought becomes like the thought of one sleeping and dreaming. And it is then that prophecy is brought down upon him. Regardless, it is possible that this thing reaches a prophet at the time he is awake in the way that we mentioned. But it is [also] possible that the prophecy will be brought down to him when he is laying on his bed through a dream at night. In any event, however, the prophecy will only come to him after he is outside of his senses and shut down in such a trance. Yet it is possible for the thing to happen in very little time, and that he immediately return to his prior state. Still, at the time of his prophesying, he had left his perceptions and had shut down into a temporary trance until he received the prophecy.
Когда пророческое изобилие усиливается над пророком, он выходит из своих ощущений и чувств и погружается как бы в сон, и его мысль становится подобной мысли спящего и видящего сон, и тогда пророчество нисходит на него. Возможно, что это случается с пророком во время бодрствования, вышеописанным способом, а возможно, что когда он лежит на своём ложе, пророчество нисходит на него в ночном сне. Однако в любом случае пророчество не достигает его иначе как после того, как он выходит из своих чувств и погружается в эту дрёму. Впрочем, возможно, что это происходит за краткий миг, и он тотчас возвращается в своё прежнее состояние, — но в момент пророчества он выходит из ощущений и погружается в дрёму на время, необходимое для принятия пророчества.
