בפסוק אנכי בדרך נחני ה' בית אחי אדוני (בראשית כד, כז). בדרך נקוד פתח לשון מבורר, רצה לומר על ידי הדרך ידעתי שנחני ה' בית אחי אדוני, שכיון שאמרו חכמינו ז"ל (בראשית רבה נט) שהיה לו קפיצות הארץ, דהיינו שמביא את האדם ברגע אחת מעצמו וכיון שקפץ הדרך שהלך שלא מדעתו רק שהשם יתברך הביא אותו למקום שידוע לפניו יתברך, אם כן על ידי הדרך ידעתי שכאן הוא בית אחי אדוני, שראיתי שדעתו יתברך שאעמוד פה שמע מיניה דכאן הוא המקום לעמוד משום דכאן הוא משפחת אדוני:
Genesis 24,28. “when I was already on the way, Hashem guided me to the house of my master’s brothers.” It is noteworthy that the word בדרך, “on the way,” is written with the vowel patach, instead of the semi vowel sheva that we would have expected. The former refers to a “definitive path, way, one that was commonly known.” Surely no highway led from Kiryat Arba to Aram Naharayim! We must assume therefore that what Eliezer meant to convey by choosing this word בדרך, is not the route that led from Kiryat Arba to Aram Naharayim, but the feeling that he progressed with unnatural speed to his goal, or as the sages in Bereshit rabbah 60,6 say that Eliezer covered a two week journey in a single day, so that he realized that this miracle was proof that his mission would succeed. It was clear to him therefore that the house that he was taken to must be the house of Avraham’s family.
О стихе «Я — в пути (бадерех) повёл меня Господь к дому брата господина моего» (Берешит 24:27). Слово «бадерех» (в пути) огласовано патахом — в значении «прояснённо», то есть: через дорогу я узнал, что Господь привёл меня к дому брата моего господина. Поскольку мудрецы сказали (Берешит Раба 59), что земля «прыгнула» перед ним (кфицат а-дерех — чудесное сокращение пути), то есть земля сама доставила его в одно мгновение. Раз дорога сократилась и он шёл не по своей воле, а Всевышний привёл его в место, известное Ему, благословен Он, — значит, через дорогу он узнал, что здесь — дом брата его господина. Он увидел, что воля Всевышнего — чтобы он остановился здесь, и из этого следует, что здесь — место для остановки, ибо здесь — семья его господина.
