And this is the meaning of "Who rules over Me? The righteous—precisely." Through me, literally, the decree and judgments are nullified, only that the righteous is connected and not separated from Him, blessed be He, and through him the judgments are sweetened. And this is what the prophet rebuked (Isaiah 1:2): "Children I have raised and exalted, and they have rebelled against Me"—that the rebellion was because they lacked this Da’at, which is the concept of "through Me", namely "the mouth of God spoke", as stated above. And through this, they fell into the place of smallness and narrowness, the place of judgment, and therefore returned to exile, because the secret of all exile is through casting Da’at into smallness and constriction—serving God with very small Da’at and without delight, and thus they remain below, in the place of judgment, and through that they are in exile. As it says (Lamentations 1:3): "All her pursuers overtook her between the straits (Bein HaMetzarim)"—why were her pursuers able to overtake her? Because they were in the straits, meaning their Da’at fell into smallness and narrowness, until the time when "the earth will be filled with the knowledge of God", and there will be a complete redemption through the abundance of Da’at.
