18 יח. ההנחה השמונה עשרה: כל מה שיוצא מן הכוח אל הפועל – המוציא שלו אינו הוא, והוא בהכרח חיצוני לו. כי אילו היה המוציא בתוכו ולא היה קיים מונֵע – לא היה זמן שבו היה מצוי בכוח, אלא הוא היה בפועל תמיד. ואם המוציא שלו היה בתוכו, והיה לו מונע ואז הוסר – הרי אין ספק שמסיר המונע הוא שהוציא את הכוח הזה לפועל. הבן זאת.
PROPOSITION XVIII. Everything that passes over from a state of potentiality to that of actuality, is caused to do so by some external agent: because if that agent existed in the thing itself, and no obstacle prevented the transition, the thing would never be in a state of potentiality, but always in that of actuality. If, on the other hand, while the thing itself contained that agent, some obstacle existed, and at a certain time that obstacle was removed, the same cause which removed the obstacle would undoubtedly be described as the cause of the transition from potentiality to actuality, [and not the force situated within the body]. Note this.
18 יח. Восемнадцатая предпосылка: всякое, что выходит из возможности в действительность, выводящее его — не оно само, и оно по необходимости внешне по отношению к нему. Ибо если бы выводящее было в нём и не существовало бы препятствия, не было бы времени, когда оно находилось бы в возможности, — напротив, оно было бы в действительности всегда. А если выводящее было бы в нём и было бы препятствие, а затем оно было устранено, то нет сомнения, что устраняющий препятствие и вывел эту возможность в действительность. Пойми это.
