ועם כי חזינא לדעתיה דמר אבא ז"ל דיהיב דעתיה עליהון לקבצם יחד. אמנם על כולם לא נצטויתי מאתו להדפיסם. רק על דא נצטויתי מפורש יוצא מפיו יום העלותו השמימה בנוראות דברים. להתחזק בכל כחי לחזק בית אולפנא דידיה שלא תמוש תורה ח"ו. וגם על הקונטרסים הללו נתן קולו עלי מקירות לבבו. שלא אשנה מדבריו כאשר המה כתובים. ככה צוויתי להדפיסם בזרוז:
And though my father (OBM) intended to gather them, he never, however, directed me to publish any of them. It’s only this that he explicitly commanded me about, with fearsome words, issued from his lips on the day he ascended to the heavens: to use all my abilities to preserve his teaching hall so that Torah shouldn’t disappear (heaven forefend). And also regarding these essays he instructed me, from the depths of his heart, that I shouldn’t change any of his words, to leave them as written, and I was commanded to publish them quickly.
И хотя я вижу по его мнению — моего господина отца, да будет благословенна память его, — что он обращал на них внимание, чтобы собрать их вместе, однако относительно всех я не был им заповедан печатать их, а только об этом я был заповедан явно, вышедшим из его уст, в день его восхождения на небеса — со страшными словами: укрепиться всей моей силой укреплять дом его училища, чтобы не отошла Тора, не дай Бог. И также об этих тетрадях он из глубины сердца возложил на меня свой голос: чтобы я не изменил от его слов, как они написаны; так я заповедан печатать их поспешно.
