הגהה: ואולי יתכן פי' הכתוב ודבר שפתים אך למחסור (משלי י״ד:כ״ג) שלדבר שנראה בהשקפה שיש בו איזה חסרון. נצרך דבר שפתים להמתיק, אבל באין מחסור. למה זה רוב דברים:
Annotation: It could be possible that the meaning of this verse (“excess speech only results in loss”) is that when, from our world-view, it appears that there is something lacking, it requires words to correct. But when there is no lack, why add more words?
Примечание: и, быть может, возможно истолкование стиха «и словесная речь — лишь к недостатку» (Мишлей 14:23) так: относительно вещи, которая на первый взгляд кажется имеющей какой-то недостаток, требуется «словесная речь», чтобы подсластить; но при отсутствии недостатка — к чему это множество слов?
