הוא הגבר שהקים עולה של תורה בזמנו במדינתא בתורת חסד. ופיהו פתח בחכמה למאות תלמידים. וזכה להגדיל תורה. לאגמורי. ולמסבר. אזן וחקר ותקן. ובנה לו בית תלמוד גדול עומד על שלשה עמודים. תורה ועבודה וגמילות חסדים:
He was the man who took upon himself the yoke of Torah in his time, in his land, as an expression of compassion. And he taught wisdom to hundreds of students. And he merited enlarging Torah, to teach and to explain. He heard and researched and corrected. And he built a great institution of learning that stands on three foundations: Torah, service11Heb.: avoda and compassion12Heb.: oo-g’mee-loot cha-sa-deem.
Он — муж, который воздвиг ярмо Торы в своё время в стране, в Торе милости; и уста его открылись мудростью — для сотен учеников. И удостоился возвеличить Тору — обучать и разъяснять.
