Nefesh HaChayim, An Introduction by the Author's Son

Annotation: And the genius, the author of the Shaagaht Aryei (OBM) was for some years the chief justice of our court here in this holy community, and was known to my father, my master’s (OBM) family. While he was here he authored his valuable composition Responsa of the Shaagaht Aryei. And when he left here to print it, my respected father (his resting place is in Eden) was young. When he traveled through here after publishing his book, he stayed over at my grandfather’s (OBM) home for a few weeks, graced the city with his presence, and taught here. My father, my master (OBM) was then fifteen years old, and out of love for him and his older brother (his resting place is in Eden), he directed their studies so that they should be well-organized.
