So it was the will of the Name (blessed be He) to bring into existence a power that would always yearn to attach to the root of its root, and that would also impress abundance to the continued existence of the levels below. And they [emphatic] are the “heavens and its legions, and the earth and its legions” (refer to the RaMBa”N’s commentary on the Chumash on this matter) . For even though the yearning of the spiritual legions of the heaven is to attach to the higher levels—as per the context (T’hillim 19:2): “the heavens declare God’s-El glory”—even so “their voice goes out to the entire earth and their words reach to the furthest edges of the inhabited world” (T’hillim 19:5), namely their influence on the earth: “He made a tent for the sun among them” using language similar to “when His lamp would shine…” (Iyyov 29:3)—that via the Sun are gathered the spiritual lights of heaven, to enlighten towards the earth from level to level. And refer to the Zohar (T’rooma 136b and 137a).
