And they are the mem of the tzellem—each one of them is multiplied by ten426Mem has a numerical value of forty. Each of the four letters of the Name has a value of ten. Why? In the lowest world of Ahseeya, each letter has a value of one. In the next higher world of Y’tzeera they have a value of ten. In B’reeya they have a value of one hundred. And in the world of Ah-tzeeloot they have a value of one thousand. Based on this approach, Reb Itzele is stating that the Ariza”l attributes tzellem to the world of Y’tzeera.. And the active ones are three, the lamed427Lamed has a numerical value of thirty, again assigning a numerical value of ten to each letter in the word tzellem. of tzellem. And they are still the aspects of intellect428Heb.: sei-khel and brains429Heb.: mo-khin. The mokhin are the top three s’feerote: ketter, khokhma and Beena. of the three430In the Ariza”l’s formulation of the ten s’feerote, the top three (ketter, chokhma and beena, or alternately chokhma, beena and da-aht) are called the mo-khin (brains).. And when they unfold/flow downward after this in the heart/mind431Heb.: lev—implying the lower seven s’feerote, which are referred to as the mee-dote and in action432Heb.: ma-ah-seh, they are three times three433Three elements each at the three levels of mo-khin, lev and ma-ah-seh, being the root of the mee-dote434Mee-dote refers to the bottom seven of the s’feerote. in the mahl-khoot435Mahl-khoot is the bottom-most of the s’feerote. of t’voona436T’voona is the lower part of Beena. Beena is the feminine half of the lower two mo-khin, with Chokh-ma being the male other half. The lower seven mee-dote receive their vitality from the mahl-khoot of t’voona. that unfolds/flows in Z’eir Ahnpin437Z’eir Ahnpin is the partzoof in the overall/general shiur koma that corresponds to the vav in the Tetragrammaton, and also to the world of Y’tzeera. It can also be described as the male aspect of Providence.; the essential aspect of the mee-dote: khessed, g’voora and tif-eh-ret; and after that the actual mee-dote of action: they being neh-tzakh, hode, y’sode. And this is the tzaddik of tzellem438The letter tzaddik has a numerical value of ninety, which corresponds to the nine s’feerote mentioned, multiplied by the ten that corresponds to the world of Y’tzeera—the world of Z’eir Ahnpin. By explaining in this manner, Reb Itzele situates the context of tzellem in the world of Y’tzeera, per the Ariza”l..
