ה. כשיתחיל להתעורר בו מידה רעה ח"ו ממידות רעות שהוא רגיל בהם, כגון עקשנות ובושת של גאוה ועצלות ובטלה המביאה לידי שיעמום וכיוצא בהם, יאמר תיכף ומיד בזה הלשון ובכל כחו: "הכנעני החתי האמורי הפריזי החיוי והיבוסי והגרגשי" וינצל. וירגיל את עצמו לצמצם ראייתו שלא להסתכל חוץ לד׳ אמות אפילו בהיותו בביתו, ובפרט בבית הכנסת ובחדר שלומד. בדרך הילוכו בחוץ ובהזדמן לפניו אשה אפילו אשתו ובניו הקטנים וכיוצא, יצייר לפני עיניו השם אדנ"י:
When one begins to feel temptation from one of his bad traits which he is accustomed to, for example: stubbornness, haughtiness, laziness, idleness that bring one to foolishness and the like, he should say the following verse with all his might: "The Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Prizite, the Jebusite, and the Girgashite," and he will be saved. One should also accustom oneself to not look out side of his four cubit personal space even when he is at home, and specifically when he his in the (Torah) study hall and/or the room which he studies (Torah). If when he is walking and outside and sees before him a woman, even a woman and her children, he should have before his eyes the name of G-d

Когда начнёт пробуждаться в нём, упаси Боже, дурное качество из тех дурных качеств, к которым он привык, — как-то: упрямство, стыд гордыни, лень и праздность, приводящая к тоске, и тому подобное, — пусть тотчас же скажет следующие слова, со всей силой своей: «Ханаанеи, хиттеи, эмореи, призеи, хивеи, евусеи и гиргашеи» — и будет спасён. И пусть приучит себя ограничивать свой взгляд, не смотря далее четырёх локтей, даже находясь у себя дома, а тем более в синагоге и в комнате, где он учится. В пути, идя по улице, если встретится ему женщина, даже жена его и малые дети его и тому подобное, — пусть представит пред глазами своими Имя Господне.
