ולמה ב' דומה, לאדם שנוצר בחכמה שסתום מכל צד ופתוח מלפניו והאל"ף פתוחה מלאחריו, לומר זה זנב הב' שפתוחה מלאחריו, שאלמלא כן לא יתקיים האדם כך אלמלא בית בזנבה של א' לא יתקיים העולם:
[Rabbi Bun continued,] "And to what is [the letter] Bet similar? To a person that it is formed with wisdom: closed on all sides but open in its front. [But] the [letter] Aleph is open from its back. This is to say that the tail of the Bet is open from behind, and if it were not thus, humans would not be sustained. So too, if it were not for the Bet in the tail of the Aleph, the world would not be sustained."
И на что похожа буква бет? На человека, сотворённого в мудрости, который закрыт со всех сторон и открыт спереди. А алеф открыта сзади. Это говорит о том, что хвост буквы бет открыт сзади. Ибо если бы не это, человек не мог бы существовать. Так же и бет — если бы не хвост буквы алеф, мир не мог бы существовать.
