קצג) ומאן דדחיל בגין וכו': ומי שירא מפני עונש הכאה ושיטנה, כאמור, אינה שורה עליו אותה יראת ה', הנקראת יראת ה' לחיים. אלא מה שורה עליו. היא אותה יראה רעה. ונמצא ששורה עליו אותה הרצועה, היראה הרעה, ולא יראת ה'.
193. “And one who fears, etc.”And one who fears out of the punishment of striking and hatred, as stated, that fear of God, which is called “the fear of God for life,” does not rest upon him. Rather, what rests upon him? That evil fear; and thus, that strap, the evil fear, rests upon him, and not the fear of God.
193) А тот, кто боится из-за и т.д.: А тот, кто боится из-за наказания — ударов и обвинения, как было сказано, — на нём не пребывает тот страх Господень, называемый «страхом Господним к жизни». Что же пребывает на нём? Тот злой страх. И выходит, что пребывает на нём тот бич — злой страх, а не страх Господень.
