נה) אדהכי חמא כמה וכו': בתוך כך ראה הרבה מן החברים מסביב כל העמודים העומדים, וראה שמעלים אותם לישיבה של הרקיע, אלו עולים ואלו יורדים, ולמעלה מכולם, ראה את בעל הכנפים, שהוא מטטרון, שהיה בא.
55. “In the meantime, he saw several etc.”In the meantime, he saw many of the colleagues around all the upright pillars, and he saw that they were being raised to the academy of the firmament. Some were ascending while others were descending. Above them all, he saw the winged one, who is Metatron, approaching.
55) «Тем временем увидел множество...» Тем временем увидел множество товарищей (хаверим) вокруг всех столпов стоящих, и увидел, что их возносят в небесную Ешиву (Метивта дэ-Ракиа) — одни поднимаются, а другие нисходят. И выше всех увидел обладателя крыльев — Метатрона, который приближался.
פירוש. בעוד שהכרוז קרא, הוא ראה כמה מן הנשמות הצדיקים השייכות לאותן ב' כתות הנ"ל, מסביב כל אינון עמודין דקיימין, הן נשמות הצדיקים שכבר היו במתיבתא דרבי שמעון וראה אותן עולות למתיבתא דרקיע, מהן עלו ומהן ירדו. כי כתה א' עלתה וכתה ב' ירדה וז"ש אלין סלקין ואלין נחתין. כי כן הם מסייעין זל"ז, כפי קריאת הכרוז, שלכתה א' אמר אסתכלו וחמו ולכתה ב' אמר אתערו.
Explanation: While the announcer was calling, [Rabbi Ḥiyya] saw several of the souls of the righteous that belonged to those two aforementioned groups, around “all the upright pillars.” These were the souls of the righteous who were already in Rabbi Shimon’s academy. He saw them ascending to the academy of the firmament. “Some were ascending while others were descending,” as the first group ascended and the second group descended. This is the meaning of the statement: ““Some were ascending while others were descending,” as this is how they help one another, in accordance with the call of the announcer, who said to the first group, “look and see,” while to the second group he said: “Awaken.”

Пока звучало провозглашение, он увидел множество душ праведников, принадлежащих к двум вышеупомянутым станам, вокруг всех тех столпов стоящих — душ праведников, уже находившихся в Ешиве рабби Шимона. И увидел их восходящими в небесную Ешиву (Метивта дэ-Ракиа): одни поднимались, а другие нисходили. Ибо первый стан поднимался, а второй стан нисходил. И это то, что сказано: «Одни поднимаются, а другие нисходят». Ибо так они помогают друг другу, согласно призыву провозглашения: первому стану сказано «вглядитесь и узрите», а второму стану сказано «пробудитесь».
וראה כי מהתעוררותן של כל אלו הנשמות, דהיינו מכח ב' כתות יחד, ירד מט"ט ממתיבתא דיליה למתיבתא דר"ש ונשבע השבועה דלקמן וז"ש ועילא דכלהו, חמא מארי דגדפי דהוה אתי והוא אומי אומאה כי ועילא דכלהו פירושו, כמו מכח כולם. ומארי דגדפי, הוא מט"ט.
[Rabbi Ḥiyya] saw that through the awakening of all these souls, that is, through the strength of both groups together, Metatron descended from this academy to Rabbi Shimon’s academy and swore the oath cited below. Thus [the Zohar] states: “Above them all he saw the winged one approaching, and he swore an oath” [section 56, below], since “above them all” has the same meaning as “through the strength of them all.” The “winged one” is Metatron.
