The sages of blessed memory have stated, as known from the holy books, that the Hanukkah candle should be placed "specifically below ten handbreadths." However, it is said that the Shechinah (Divine Presence) never descended below ten handbreadths nor above them, as mentioned in the Talmud: "The Hanukkah candle, in which the Shechinah shines, is within ten handbreadths" (Shabbat 21b). This indicates that there is a specific Tikkun (rectification) in the commandment of Hanukkah to illuminate even below ten handbreadths, a place where typically the Shechinah does not descend.
In the writings of the Arizal, it is explained that the Shechinah descends at the beginning of the night to the worlds of Beriah, Yetzirah, and Asiyah (Beri'ah, Yetzirah, Asiyah - Creation, Formation, Action) to provide sustenance to the worlds, as mentioned in "Pri Etz Chaim, Gate of Hanukkah, Chapter 4." The significance of the ten handbreadths close to the ground is that they represent the lower realms.
It is said that the time for lighting is approximately half an hour, as each world of Beriah, Yetzirah, and Asiyah includes ten Sefirot (Sefirot - emanations), totaling thirty aspects. Thus, during Hanukkah, there is a temporary rectification for the worlds of Beriah, Yetzirah, and Asiyah, which are explained to be in the state of Igulim (circles). Therefore, the light descends below ten handbreadths to illuminate these worlds, which are usually not rectified.
