The first point is that in the act of creation, the Garden of Eden is mentioned in the Torah, as it is written: "And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there He put the man whom He had formed" (Genesis 2:8). In the garden were all kinds of trees, and in the midst of the garden, the Tree of Knowledge and the Tree of Life, from which Adam was warned not to eat. However, the first man transgressed and ate from the Tree of Knowledge, and because of this, "So He drove out the man; and He placed at the east of the Garden of Eden the cherubim, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the Tree of Life" (Genesis 3:24). The man was expelled from the Garden of Eden, and the rectification (Tikkun) will be to return him to the Garden of Eden.
For this purpose, Moses our teacher desired to enter the Land of Israel, as if to rectify the sin of the first man and to bring about the removal of the flaming sword and the return of the Israelites to dwell within the lower Garden of Eden, which is the Land of Israel. As the Leshem (Rabbi Shlomo Elyashiv) of blessed memory wrote in his book "Sefer HaDe'ah," Part 2, Discourse 5: "Moses our teacher was of the aspect of the superior radiance (Zehira Ila'a) of the first man, and if Israel had not sinned, Moses would have entered the land, and the world would have returned to its rectification as it was before the sin of the first man. But due to the trials that came upon them, it was not possible to achieve this rectification."
The Ramak (Rabbi Moshe Cordovero) of blessed memory wrote in "Pardes Rimonim," Part 2, Chapter 17: "And Moses greatly desired to reach the gates of the Garden of Eden, to remove from there the cherubim and the flaming sword, to open the way to the Tree of Life for a righteous nation that keeps faith." If indeed the Israelites had merited, and Moses our teacher had entered the land, he would have removed the flaming sword, and then truly the seven nations would have melted away by themselves without the need for difficult warfare.
