ואֲבַקֵשׁ לִידִידִי הקוֹרֵא, שֶׁזֹּאת הַפְּתִיחָה יִקְרָא וְיַחֲזֹר וְיִקְרָא, כִּי הִיא בְּוַדַּאי מוֹעִילָה לְעִנְיָן זֶה עַל לְהַבָּא יוֹתֵר מִן הַכֹּל, כִּי הִיא מְלֻקֶטֶת מֵאֵת הָרִאשׁוֹנִים, אֲשֶׁר דִּבְרֵיהֶם קְדוֹשִׁים וּטְהוֹרִים, בּוֹעֲרוֹת כְּמַרְאֵה הַלַּפִּידִים, וּבְוַדַּאי שָׁמְרוּ אֶת עַצְמָן מְמִדָּה גְּרוּעָה הַזּוֹ עַד תַּכְלִיתָה, עַל כֵּן דִּבְרֵיהֶן פּוֹעֲלִין מְאֹד בְּלֵב קוֹרְאֵיהֶן, וְגַם יֵדַע הַקוֹרֵא שֶׁלֹּא לָקַחְתִּי אֶת הַלָּאוִין וְהָעֲשִׂין כְּפִי הַהִזְדַּמֵן, רַק חָקַרְתִּי וְדָרַשְׁתִּי הֵיטֵב אֶת הַתַּרְיָ"ג מִצְוֹת, וְהַרְבֵּה יְגִיעוֹת יָגַעְתִּי עַד שֶׁעֲזָרַנִי הַקָדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא, שֶׁמָצָאתִי אֶת אֵלּוּ הַנְּאוֹתִים לְעִנְיָנֵנוּ.
And I would ask my friend, the reader, to constantly read and reread this introduction, for it certainly is of greater avail for the future in this regard than anything else. For it is culled from the Rishonim, whose words are pure and holy, burning like flames. And, of a certainty, they have guarded themselves form this base trait to its very end, wherefore their words make a deep impress on the hearts of their readers. And let the reader also know that I have not selected the negative and positive commandments fortuitously, but I carefully probed and expounded the 613 mitzvoth, and much did I toil until the Holy One Blessed be He helped me find those [commandments] relevant to our subject.
И я прошу моего дорогого читателя: пусть он прочитает это Введение и снова прочитает его, ибо оно, безусловно, полезно в этом отношении на будущее более всего прочего, ибо оно собрано из слов ранних законоучителей, чьи слова святы и чисты, пылают подобно факелам, и они, безусловно, остерегались от этого скверного качества до крайней степени.
