וְכֵן מִצְוֹת הַלֵּב שֶׁאָנוּ חַיָּבִין בָּהֶן אֵין לָנוּ טַעֲנָה בָּהֶן וְלֹא טוֹרֵד מֵהֶן אֶלָּא אַהֲבַת הָעוֹלָם וְשֶׁאֵין אֲנַחְנוּ מְבִינִים עִנְיַן בּוֹרְאֵנוּ כְּמוֹ שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר (ישעיה ה) וְהָיָה כִנּוֹר וָנֶבֶל תֹּף וְחָלִיל וָיַיִן מִשְׁתֵּיהֶם וְאֵת פֹּעַל ה׳ לֹא יַבִּיטוּ וּמַעֲשֵׂה יָדָיו לֹא רָאוּ:
Such too is the case for the duties of the heart which are always binding upon us. We have no excuse for their neglect, and there is nothing which impedes us in their fulfillment, except for love of this world, and lack of understanding in regard to our Creator, as written "they do not consider the work of G-d" (Isaiah 5:12).
Так и заповеди сердца, которые мы обязаны исполнять, — нет у нас оправдания [для пренебрежения] ими и нет того, что отвлекало бы от них, кроме любви к миру и непонимания нами замысла нашего Творца, как сказано (Йешаяу 5): «И кинор, и невель, бубен, и свирель, и вино на пирах их, а на деяние Г-спода не взирают и дела рук Его не видят».
