וְהַדּוֹמֶה לָזֶה עֶבֶד שֶׁצִּוָּהוּ רַבּוֹ לַעֲשׂוֹת שְׁתֵּי מְלָאכוֹת הָאַחַת בְּבֵיתוֹ וְהַשֵּׁנִית בַּשָּׂדֶה כְּמוֹ עֲבוֹדַת הָאֲדָמָה וּלְעַיֵּן בָּהּ בְּעִתִּים יְדוּעוֹת וּבְשָׁעוֹת יְדוּעוֹת אִם יַעַבְרוּ הָעִתִּים הָהֵם אוֹ אִם לֹא יִמְצָא לַעֲשׂוֹת מִפְּנֵי דָּבָר שֶׁיִּמְנָעֶנּוּ יִסְתַּלֵּק מֵעָלָיו חִיּוּב הַמַּעֲשֶׂה חוּץ לְבֵיתוֹ אֲבָל הַמַּעֲשֶׂה שֶׁצִּוָּהוּ לַעֲשׂוֹת בְּבֵיתוֹ אֵינוֹ מִסְתַּלֵּק מֵעָלָיו כָּל יְמֵי עָמְדוֹ בּוֹ וְעָבְדוֹ אֶת אֲדוֹנָיו כְּשֶׁלֹּא יִמְנָעֶנּוּ מוֹנֵעַ וְלֹא יִטְרְדֵהוּ טוֹרֵד וְחִיּוּב הַמַּעֲשֶׂה תָּמִיד עָלָיו כְּשֶׁיִּפָּנֶה.
The analogy of this is to a slave whose master charged him with two jobs. One in the house and the other in the field. The latter consisted of cultivating the ground and its care at definite periods and times. When those times are past or if he is unable to work there due to some thing which impedes him, he is then to be relieved of his responsibility for the work in the field. But he is never exempt for the work which he is commanded to do in the house, provided there is no impediment or other matter he must tend to. Hence, he is constantly charged to work the house when he is free to do so.
Это подобно рабу, которому господин повелел выполнять два вида работы: одну — в доме, а другую — в поле, например обработку земли, и заниматься ею в определённые времена и в определённые часы. Если эти времена пройдут или если он не сможет выполнить [работу] из-за чего-то, что ему помешает, — обязанность работы вне дома с него снимается. Но работа, которую ему повелели выполнять в доме, не снимается с него во все дни его пребывания в нём и его служения господину, если ему ничто не мешает и ничто его не отвлекает, и обязанность этой работы постоянно лежит на нём, когда он свободен.
