ואח״כ חָשַׁבְתִּי בְּעִנְיָן הָאֶחָד הָאֱמֶת מֵהִתְיַחֲדוֹ בִּכְבוֹדוֹ וְשֶׁאֵינֶנּוּ מִשְׁתַּתֵּף עִם דָּבָר וְאֵינוֹ דּוֹמֶה לְדָבָר הֻצְרַכְנוּ לְחַבֵּר אֶל זֶה שֶׁנַּעַבְדֵהוּ לְבַדּוֹ וּנְיַחֵד כָּל הַמַּעֲשִׂים לִשְׁמוֹ כִּי אֵינֶנּוּ מְקַבֵּל הַמַּעֲשֶׂה הַמִּשְׁתַּתֵּף בּוֹ זוּלָתוֹ עִמּוֹ. שַׂמְתִּי הַמַּעֲשֶׂה הַמְיֻחָד לְשֵׁם הָאֵל שֹׁרֶשׁ חֲמִישִׁי לַכְּלָל מֵחוֹבוֹת הַלְּבָבוֹת.
Afterwards, I pondered on the conception of absolute Unity, that as G-d is unique in His glory, has nothing in common with anything, nor resembles anything else, we must therefore join to this that we serve Him alone, and that we devote all activities to Him, since He does not accept worship which is associated with other than Him. Therefore, I placed the devoting of acts to G-d as the fifth root of the general principles of the duties of the heart.
А затем я размышлял о том, что подобает истинному Единому в силу Его исключительности в Его славе, и о том, что Он не имеет соучастника ни в чём и не подобен ничему. И мы обязаны присоединить к этому то, что мы будем служить Ему одному и посвящать все деяния Его Имени, ибо Он не принимает деяния, в котором вместе с Ним соучаствует иное. Я сделал посвящение деяний Имени Б-га пятым корнем в общей совокупности обязанностей сердец.
