תפילין: אך ענין התפילין הוא יותר גדול מן הציצית הרבה. והוא כי נתן הבי״ת לישראל שיהיו ממשיכים עליהם המשך ממש מקדושתו ית׳ ויתעטרו בו באופן שכל בחינותיהם הנפשיות והגופיות יחסו תחת האור הגדול הזה ויתקנו בו תיקון גדול. והוא מש״ה וראו כל עמי הארץ כי שם ה׳ נקרא עליך ותלה ענין זה במצוה זו בכל הלכותיה ופרטותיה. ואמנם ב׳ אברים ראשיים נמצאו באדם ובהם הנשמה מתגברת תגבורת גדול והם המוח והלב. וצוה הבי״ת שימשך האור הזה על המוח תחלה ע״י תפלה של ראש ויתוקן בו המוח והנשמה שבו ויתפשט אח״כ על הלב ע״י תפלה של יד שכנגדו ויתוקן גם הוא בו ועי״ז נמצא האדם כלו בכל בחינותיו נכלל תחת המשך הקדושה הזאת ומתעטר בה ומתקדש קדושה רבה. ואמנם פרטי ענינים שונים נמצאים בתנאי המצוה בכל חלקיהם כלם ענינים מצטרכים להשלמת התיקון הנרצה בכל חלקיו כפי מחלקות בחינותו של האדם:
Tefillin: However the content of tefillin is much greater than tsitsit. And that is that the Creator, may He be blessed, granted that Israel truly bring down His holiness, may He be blessed; and that they be crowned by it in such a way that all of their spiritual and physical characteristics be sheltered under this great light; and that they [also] create a great refinement through it. And this is what the verse states (Deuteronomy 28:10), "And all the nations of the world will see that the name of the Lord is called upon you." And this matter is dependent upon this commandment, in all of its laws and details. Moreover, there are two main organs in a person from which the soul derives great strength. And they are the brain and the heart. And the Creator, may He be blessed, commanded that this light first be brought down into the brain through the head tefillin and that the brain, and the soul in it, be refined through it. Then it expands afterwards to the heart through the arm tefillin that is across from it, so that it too is refined by it. And through this, it comes out that man is completely included in the drawing down of this holiness to all of his characteristics; he is crowned by it and attains a great holiness. Notwithstanding, there are various details found in the conditions of the commandment: Matters are found in all of their parts that are needed for the desired refinement of all of his parts, according to the division of the characteristics of man.
Тфилин: Суть тфилин намного возвышеннее цицит. Ибо Всевышний дал Израилю возможность привлекать на себя подлинное нисхождение от Его святости и увенчиваться им, так чтобы все их аспекты — душевные и телесные — были под покровом этого великого света и исправлялись через него великим исправлением. Об этом сказано: "И увидят все народы земли, что Имя Господа наречено на тебе." Он привязал этот предмет к данной заповеди во всех её правилах и частностях. В человеке обнаруживаются два главных органа, в которых душа проявляется с великой силой, — это мозг и сердце. Всевышний повелел, чтобы этот свет нисходил сначала на мозг посредством головного тфилина, и через него исправлялись мозг и пребывающая в нём душа. Затем он распространяется на сердце посредством ручного тфилина, расположенного напротив него, и оно тоже исправляется. Благодаря этому весь человек во всех своих аспектах оказывается заключён под покровом нисхождения этой святости, увенчан ею и освящён великим освящением. Различные частные предметы обнаруживаются в условиях заповеди во всех их частях — все они суть вещи, необходимые для полноты желаемого исправления во всех его частях, сообразно подразделениям аспектов человека.
