פעולות הנשמה בגוף: וצריך שתדע שאע״פ שאין אנו מרגישים לנשמה בגוף פעולה אחרת זולת החיות וההשכלה הנה באמת יש בחוקה שתזכך עצם הגוף וחומרו ותעלהו עילוי אחר עילוי עד שיהיה ראוי להתלוות עמה בהנאה בשלימות. ואמנם לדבר זה היה אדה״ר מגיע אלו לא חטא שהיתה נשמתו מזככת את גופו זיכוך אחר זיכוך עד שהיה מזדכך השיעור המצטרך ונקבע בתענוג הנצחי:
The effects of the soul on the body: And you need to know that even thought we don't feel any effect of the soul on the body except for life and awareness, behold that among its axioms is that it purifies the actual body and its material, and it raises it up - one lift after [another] - with regard to its becoming fit to accompany it in the pleasure [of] perfection. And in truth, the first man would have reached this thing if he had not sinned - his soul would have purified his body, one purification after [another], until it would have been purified [with] the necessary and established measure for everlasting delight.
Действие души на тело: Необходимо знать, что хотя мы не ощущаем у души в теле иного действия, кроме оживления и разумения, в действительности в её природе заложено очищать саму субстанцию тела и его материю и возвышать его ступень за ступенью, пока оно не станет достойным сопутствовать ей в наслаждении совершенством. И именно этого достиг бы Адам, первый человек, если бы не согрешил: его душа очищала бы его тело очищением за очищением, пока оно не очистилось бы в необходимой мере и не утвердилось бы в вечном блаженстве.
