המיתה והתחיה: ואולם מלבד כל זה גזרה מדת דינו ית׳ שלא יוכלו לא האדם ולא העולם מעתה הגיע אל השלימות עודם בצורה שנתקלקלה דהיינו הצורה שיש להם עכשיו שבה נתרבה הרשע אלא יצטרך להם בהכרח עבור מעבר ההפסד דהיינו המיתה לאדם וההפסד לכל שאר ההוים שנתקלקלו עמו ולא תוכל הנשמה לזכך הגוף אלא אחר שתצא ממנו תחלה וימות הגוף ויפסד ואז יחזור ויבנה בנין חדש ותכנס בו הנשמה ותזככהו וכן העולם כלו יתחרב מצורתו של עתה וישוב ויבנה בצורה אחרת ראויה לשלימות. וע״כ נגזר על האדם שימות ויחזור ויחיה והוא ענין תחיית המתים ועל העולם שיחרב ויחזור ויחודש והוא ענין מה שאז״ל שיתא אלפי שנה הוי עלמא וחד חרוב ולסוף אלף שנה הב״ה חוזר ומחדש את עולמו:
Death and resurrection: However besides all of this, His trait of [strict] judgement, may He be blessed, decreed that from now on, man and the world could not reach perfection so long as they are in a corrupted state - meaning, the form they have now, in which evil grew. Rather they perforce need a transformation beyond the perdition - meaning, death for man and destruction for all of the other things in existence that became corrupted with him. And the soul can [no longer] purify the body until after it first goes out of it and the body dies and decomposes. And then [the body] returns and is built [as] a new structure, and the soul enters it and purifies it. And likewise the whole world will become destroyed from its current form, and it will return and be built in a different form that is fitting for perfection. And therefore it was decreed upon man that he die, and [then] come back and live [again]. And this is the matter of the revival of the dead. And [it was decreed] about the world that it will be destroyed and [then] come back and be renewed - and this is the matter that they, may their memory be blessed, said (Sanhedrin 97a), "The world will [exist] for six thousand years, and be destroyed for one [thousand]; but at the end of a thousand years, the Holy One, blessed be He, returns and renews the world.
Смерть и воскрешение: Помимо всего этого, мера Его суда, да будет Он благословен, определила, что ни человек, ни мир не смогут отныне достичь совершенства, пока они пребывают в испорченной форме, то есть в той форме, которую они имеют сейчас, в которой умножилось зло. Но им необходимо будет непременно пройти через уничтожение, то есть смерть для человека и разрушение для всех прочих существ, которые были испорчены вместе с ним. И душа не сможет очистить тело, пока сначала не выйдет из него, и тело не умрёт и не разрушится, а затем оно будет заново построено, и душа войдёт в него и очистит его. И также весь мир разрушится в своей нынешней форме и будет заново построен в иной форме, подобающей совершенству. Поэтому человеку было определено умереть и затем воскреснуть — и это есть суть воскрешения мёртвых. А миру — быть разрушенным и заново обновлённым, и это есть суть того, что сказали мудрецы, благословенной памяти: «Шесть тысяч лет существует мир, и одно [тысячелетие] — разрушение, а по истечении тысячи лет Святой, благословен Он, обновляет Свой мир».
