אך הבריה העיקרית באמת היא המין האנושי וכל שאר הנבראים בין הגבוהים ממנו ובין השפלים ממנו אינן אלא בעבורו להשלמת ענינו לפי כל הבחינות הרבות והשונות הראויות לימצא בהם וכמ״ש עוד לפנים בס״ד. והנה ההשכלה וכל המדות הטובות הם עניני שלימות שנמצאו להשתלם בם האדם ועניני החומר ומדות הרעות הם עניני החסרון שזכרנו שהאדם מושם ביניהם לקנות לו השלימות:
Of course, the main creature is truly the human specie. And all of the other creatures - whether taller than he or lower than he - are only for his sake to fulfill his function due to all of the many and different characteristics that are fitting to be found in them, and as I will write about in the continuation, with God's help (Part 4, On Blessings 1-2). And see that education and all of the proper traits are mechanisms for perfection that are found for a man to perfect himself; and physical matters and bad traits are the mechanisms for deficiency - that we have mentioned - among which man is placed, for him to acquire perfection.
Но главным существом поистине является род человеческий. И все прочие творения — как высшие, так и низшие по отношению к нему — существуют лишь ради него, для завершения его дела во всех его многочисленных и различных аспектах, которым надлежит быть, как мы ещё объясним далее, с Божьей помощью. Разум и все добрые качества — это свойства совершенства, дарованные человеку для того, чтобы он совершенствовался посредством них. А свойства материи и дурные качества — это свойства недостатка, о которых мы упоминали, между которыми помещён человек, дабы обретать себе совершенство.
