שליחיות הנביאים: וממה שיגיע לנביאים הוא היותם משתלחים בשליחות ממנו ית׳ והיינו כי לא זה הוא עצם הנבואה ואינו מוכרח כלל בנביא שישתלח לאחרים אבל עצם הנבואה כבר ביארנוהו שהוא התדבק בו ית׳ והגלותו ית׳ אליו ויתלוו לזה הידיעות והשכלות שיתלוו ומן המקרים שקורים פעמים רבות לנביאים הוא השתלחם לאחרים. וכבר אפשר שיגיע זה אל נביא מובהק ובקי מאד בדרכי הנבואה ויודעם על בורים. ואפשר שיגיע אל מי שלא יהיה כ״כ בקי ומלומד בזה ומצד זה אפשר שיקרו טעיות לנביאים לא במה שיתנבאו אלא במה שיעשו הם מדעתם ולא ישלימו מה שראוי בשליחותם ויענשו. וכמעשה הנביא של ירבעם שעבר על דברי עצמו ונמשך לו מהיותו בלתי מדוקדק בדרכי הנבואה וכמ״ש ז״ל על זה בש״ס (סנהדרין פט:):
The missions of the prophets: And among that which happens to the prophets is being sent upon His missions, may He be blessed. But [it only sometimes happens,] as this is not the essence of prophecy; and it is not necessary at all for a prophet to be sent to others. Rather we have already explained that the essence of prophecy is cleaving to Him, may He be blessed, and His revelation to him, and that it is accompanied by knowledge and understandings. And it is [only one of] the events that frequently happens to prophets, that they be sent to others. And it is truly possible that this comes to a prophet that is very established in the ways of prophecy and knows them well. But it also possible that it comes to someone who is not so established and learned about this. And from this angle, it is possible that mistakes would occur to prophets - not in what they prophesied, but rather in that which they would do on their own, and not fulfill that which was appropriate for them to do on their mission. Hence they were punished. And this is like the story of Jeroboam's prophet who transgressed his own words (I Kings 13). And it came to him from not being exacting in the ways of prophecy, as they, may their memory be blessed, wrote in the Talmud (Sanhedrin 89b).
Посланничество пророков: Среди того, что выпадает пророкам, — их посылание с миссией от Него, да будет Он благословен. Однако это не составляет сущности пророчества и вовсе не является обязательным для пророка — быть посланным к другим. Сущность пророчества, как мы уже разъяснили, — это прилепление к Нему и откровение от Него, и к этому присоединяются знания и разумения. Посылание же к другим — одно из событий, нередко случающихся с пророками. Бывает, что это выпадает опытному пророку, весьма сведущему в путях пророчества и доподлинно их знающему. Но бывает и так, что это выпадает тому, кто не столь сведущ и обучен в этом. По этой причине возможны ошибки у пророков — не в том, что они пророчествуют, а в том, что они делают по собственному разумению, не исполняя надлежащим образом своей миссии, и бывают наказаны. Таково деяние пророка Яровама, нарушившего собственные слова, — что проистекло из его недостаточной тщательности в путях пророчества, как сказали об этом мудрецы в Талмуде (Сангедрин 89б).
