ויראו העם את ה' ויאמינו בה' ובמשה עבדו. פירוש, כי מחמת שבאו אז להשגה גדולה וראתה שפחה על הים מה שלא ראה יחזקאל והאמינו שיכול אדם לבא למדריגה כמו משה רבינו עליו השלום:
“The people feared the Lord; they had faith in the Lord as well as in Moses His servant.”,Seeing that the common people at this point had achieved such stature that an ordinary maid was able to experience visions superior even to those described by the prophet Ezekiel, (Mechilta B’shalach 2) they could believe that any human being had the potential of ascending the spiritual ladder no less than Moses himself.
«И устрашился народ Г-спода, и уверовали в Г-спода и в Моше, раба Его» (Шемот 14:31).
Смысл в том, что, достигнув тогда великого постижения — ибо «служанка на море видела то, что не видел пророк Йехезкель», — они уверовали, что человек способен достичь ступени, подобной ступени Моше, учителя нашего, мир ему.
