ואני הנה בריתי אתך והיית לאב המון גוים (בראשית יז, ד). רצה לומר כי עיקר עבודת הצדיק הוא להעלות מדריגות התחתונים להבורא ברוך הוא כמו שכתוב בזוהר אנן בעינן למהוי קמא מלכא, אך הוא סכנה גדולה לצדיק לירד להעלות, כי צריך להיות דבוק באין סוף ברוך הוא. וזאת שהבטיח לאברהם ואני הנני בריתי אתך, בריתי הוא התקשרות, רצה לומר שאהיה עמך ואפילו בעת שתהיה לאב המון גוים ודו"ק:
Genesis 17,4., “I, here My covenant is with you; you will become (founder) of a multitude of nations.” The principal task of the tzaddik’s service of the Lord is to ascend spiritually to higher levels, so that the entire human race residing in the “lower” part of the universe is elevated. The Zohar expressed this by writing: “we need to be able to make an appearance, facing the King.” It is clear that there is a danger that when the tzaddik, (Avraham) in order to fulfill the mission of founding numerous nations, has to descend to the moral/ethical level of these people in order to subsequently elevate them, he faces the danger of becoming submerged among them instead. Avraham was keenly aware of that. Here G’d assures him that He will protect him against these dangers as His covenant will accompany Avraham all the way when he undertakes “outreach.”
«А Я — вот союз Мой с тобою, и ты станешь отцом множества народов» (Берешит 17:4). Смысл в том, что главное служение праведника — возвышать низшие ступени к Творцу, благословен Он, как сказано в Зоаре: «Мы желаем быть перед Царём». Однако это великая опасность для праведника — спускаться, чтобы возвышать, ибо он должен оставаться привязанным к Бесконечному, благословен Он. И вот что Всевышний обещал Аврааму: «А Я — вот союз Мой (брити) с тобою» — «союз Мой» означает связь, то есть: Я буду с тобою даже тогда, когда ты будешь «отцом множества народов». Вдумайся в это.
