«И укорил его отец». Он хотел отменить значение сна в присутствии его братьев, и потому укорил его, чтобы унять их гнев на него.

וַיִּגְעַר בּוֹ אָבִיו, “his father rebuked him;” Yaakov wanted to nullify the meaning of the dream in the presence of Joseph’s brothers; this is why he demonstrated anger in order to divert their anger from him and said:

И сказал: «неужели придём — я и мать твоя и братья твои?» Ведь мать твоя уже умерла; как невозможно относительно твоей матери, так и остальное — отменено. И всё же: «а отец его хранил это слово», ибо он знал величие сна и ожидал, что он исполнится, как сказано: «и слово я в сердце своём хранил» (Даниэль 7:28). А в Мидраш Рабба: «а отец его хранил это слово» — Руах а‑Кодеш говорит: храни это слово.

הֲבֹא נָבוֹא אֲנִי וְאִמְּךָ וְאַחֶיךָ, “do you really expect me and your brothers to come and bow down before you?” Seeing that Joseph’s mother was already dead, Yaakov wanted to demonstrate that the other parts of the dream could also not be taken seriously. Nonetheless, Yaakov took the dream far more seriously than he let on and that is why the Torah added: “his father kept careful track of the matter.” He knew that the dream was very significant and awaited its realisation at a future date. According to Bereshit Rabbah 84,12 the Holy Spirit told Yaakov to remember the matter, i.e. as if the Torah had written שמור את הדבר, “remember the matter well!”
