והשתחוו איש פתח אהלו. לא היו עומדים ומשתחוים מפני עמוד הענן אלא מפני הכבוד השוכן בתוכו, כענין ספר תורה שאין אנו עומדים מפניו ומשתחוים לו מפני המפה והתיק והתפוחים והקלפים אלא מפני התורה הכתובה בהם.

«И поклонялись — каждый у входа в свой шатёр». Они не стояли и не поклонялись из‑за столпа облака, но из‑за Кавод, пребывающего внутри него, подобно свитку Торы: мы не встаём перед ним и не кланяемся ему из‑за покрова, и футляра, и украшений, и пергаментов, но из‑за Торы, написанной в них.
והשתחוו איש פתח אהלו, “and they would prostrate themselves, each one at the entrance to his tent.” They did not bow down and prostrate themselves on account of the presence of the pillar of fire or the pillar of cloud, but as a sign of respect for the attribute of כבוד which was present in Moses’ tent. The matter is similar to the respect we show to the Torah scroll. When we bow down before it we do not mean to honour the scroll but what the scroll represents, i.e. the word of G’d which is written on the parchment.

«И поклонялись — каждый у входа в свой шатёр». Они не кланялись и не простирались из‑за присутствия столпа огня или столпа облака, но как знак почтения к атрибуту Кавод, который присутствовал в шатре Моше. Это подобно почтению, которое мы оказываем свитку Торы. Когда мы кланяемся перед ним, мы не имеем в виду почтить сам свиток, но то, что он представляет, то есть слово Всевышнего, написанное на пергаменте.
