אל תדין את חבירך לכף חובה כי אדם יראה לעינים וה' יראה ללבב ולא ידעת מה בלבו ומה במחשבתו והוי דן כל האדם לכף זכות ושמור עיניך מראות ברע ועשה צדקה כפי כחך אחד המרבה ואחד הממעיט ובלבד שיכוין לבו לשמים שעבד עצמך לקונך ותחשוב בלבך שכל אדם שומר עבדיו על אחת כמה וכמה שישמרך רבון העולמים:
Do not judge your neighbor with an inclination to his disfavor,1Shabbath 127b. “For man looketh on the outward appearance but the Lord looketh on the heart” (I Sam. 16:7), and you do not know what is in his heart or mind. Be ready to judge all men in the scale of merit.2Aboth 1:6. Guard your eyes from seeing evil and do righteousness according to your strength, whether that be more or less let one direct his heart toward heaven. Submit to the Lord and consider in your heart that each man is the watchman of his servants, and all the more so that the Lord of the Universe will guard thee.3J. T. Berakoth 9:1.
Не суди ближнего в сторону вины, ибо человек видит глазами, а Господь видит сердце, и ты не знаешь, что у него в сердце и в мыслях. И суди всякого человека в сторону оправдания. И береги глаза свои от созерцания зла. И делай цдаку по силам своим — один даёт много, другой мало — лишь бы направил сердце к Небесам. Порабощай себя Творцу своему и думай в сердце своём: всякий человек охраняет своих слуг — тем более будет охранять тебя Владыка миров.
