ומאי ברכה, אלא משל למה"ד למלך שנטע אילנות בגנו, ואע"פ שירדו גשמים ושואב תמיד וגם הקרקע לח ושואב תמיד צריך הוא להשקותן מן המעיין שנאמר (תהלים קי"א י') ראשית חכמה יראת ה' שכל טוב לכל עושיהם, ואז תאמר שהיא חסרה כלום הרי אומר (שם) תהלתו עומדת לעד:
[Rabbi Rachumai continued,] "And what is a 'blessing'? To what parable is this comparable? To a king that plants trees in his garden, and even though rain always comes down and waters [them], and the land is damp and constantly waters them, still, he needs to water the trees from the spring. As it is said, 'The beginning of wisdom is the fear of YHVH, good intelligence to all who do them' (Psalms 111:10). And lest you say that it lacks something, it continues, 'His praise stands forever' (Psalms 111:10)."
А что такое благословение? Притча: подобно царю, который насадил деревья в саду своём. И хотя идут дожди, и он постоянно впитывает влагу, и почва влажная и постоянно впитывает, ему всё равно нужно поливать их из источника, ибо сказано (Теилим 111:10) «Начало мудрости — страх Господень, разум добрый у всех исполняющих их». И тогда ты скажешь: разве ей чего-то недостаёт? Вот сказано (там же) «Хвала Его пребывает вовек».
