וכן אמר חבקוק תפלתי ידעתי שנתקבלה בתענוג, גם אני התענגתי וכשהגעתי למקום פלוני והבנתי שמעך יראתי, על כן (חבקוק שם) הן פעלך בקרב שנים חייהו, ביחודך, משל למה"ד למלך אמון מופלא ומכוסה שנכנס לביתו וצוה בל יבקשו עליו, על כן המבקש יפחד פן ידע המלך שהוא עובר על מצותו, ולכך אמר יראתי, ה' פעלך בקרב שנים חייהו כך אמר חבקוק הואיל ושמך כך ובך שמך פעלך בקרב שנים חייהו, כן יהיה לעד:
[Rabbi Rachumai continued,] "This Habakkuk said, 'I prayed; I know that it was received with delight. I was also delighted, and when I arrived at such-and-such a place, and understood, I heard of Your renown, and I was awed.'* Therefore, 'Renew Your deeds in the midst of years' (Habakkuk 3:2) — in Your uniqueness. A parable to which it can it be compared: to a king — faithful, wonderous, and concealed — who enters his house and commands that none will seek him. Because of this, the one who seeks (him) will be afraid, lest the king will know that he trespassed his [the king's] command. Thus, he says, 'I feared [יראתי].' 'YHVH, revive Your work in the midst of years’ — thus Habakkuk said, 'Since Your Name is thus, and in You is Your Name, ‘Renew Your deeds in the midst of years.’ So may it be forever.”*[Ed. - This is not a direct quotation from the book of Habakkuk.]
И так сказал Хавакук: молитва моя — я знал, что она принята с наслаждением. И я тоже наслаждался, и когда я достиг того места и понял «весть Твою — устрашился». Поэтому (Хавакук 3:2) «Деяние Твоё среди лет оживи» — в единстве Твоём. Притча: подобно царю, воспитаннику, сокрытому и скрытому, который вошёл в дом свой и повелел, чтобы не искали его. Поэтому ищущий убоится, чтобы не узнал царь, что он нарушает повеление его. И потому сказал «устрашился». «Господи, деяние Твоё среди лет оживи» — так сказал Хавакук: раз имя Твоё таково и в Тебе имя Твоё, деяние Твоё среди лет оживи. Да будет так вовеки.
