231. “Several other closed rooms, etc.”Several other sealed rooms and other chambers are in each and every wing. Spirits emerge from them, to be distributed amongst all those converts who are converting. They are called “living souls,” but “after its kind.” They all enter under the wings of the Divine Presence, but no further.

Explanation: Each wing is comprised of the six extremities, which are Ḥesed, Gevura, Tiferet, Netzaḥ, Hod, and Yesod. These are called “rooms” and “corridors.” Each and every nation has its own designated room in Ḥesed, Gevura, and Tiferet, and its own designated corridor in Netzaḥ, Hod, and Yesod. From the corridors each one receives an aspect of nefesh, and from the rooms each one receives an aspect of ruaḥ. The reason why [the Zohar calls them] “sealed rooms” is because Ḥesed, Gevura, and Tiferet of the six extremities are of the aspect of the covered [dynamic of] giving, which are sealed off from the illumination of Ḥokhma, as is known, and thus [the Zohar] calls them “sealed.”
