94. “He smote, etc.”“He smote the two altar-hearths of Moab.” Two temples existed and were nourished on its account, the First Temple and the Second Temple. פירוש. אחר שהארת גוף דעתיק יומין נסתלקה, השפע שנמשך ממנו מלמעלה נפסק, וע"כ נחרבו תרין בתי מקדשין ונמצא כביכול הוא הכה לון וחריב לון ושצי לון, הנה הדברים האלו עמוקים מאד, כי משמע שבסבת גילוי קומת הזווג הגדול דרישא דעתיק יומין נסתלקה הארת הגוף דע"י מכל העולמות, כי ע"כ נחרבו המקדשין, וכל נהורין דהוו נהירין לישראל, כלם אתחשכו, כמ"ש לפנינו. והדברים נפלאים ביותר.
Explanation: After the illumination of the body of the Atik Yomin departed, the shefa that was drawn forth from it from above ceased, and therefore two temples were destroyed, and it was “as though he struck them and ruined and destroyed them.” This is a very deep concept. It implies that due to the revealing of the height of the great fusion of the head of the Atik Yomin, the illumination of the body of the Atik Yomin departed from all the worlds. Consequently, the temples were destroyed, and all the lights that had illuminated for Israel were darkened, as stated here. These are astounding ideas.

והענין הוא, כי כל התיקונים סובבים רק על בחי"ד, הנקראת מלכות ונוקבא דז"א, או פרצוף ב"ן, כי מכחה היתה שבירת הכלים, וכן חטא דעצה"ד, שכל עבודת הצדיקים בשתא אלפי שני, הוא לחזור ולתקנה כמו שהיתה מטרם שביה"כ ומטרם החטא של אדה"ר, שאח"ז יתגלה הזווג הגדול הנ"ל, דרישא דע"י, המבער את הקליפות והס"א לנצח, בסוד בלע המות לנצח, וכו' (ישעיה כ"ה). וכיון שהב"ן כבר נתתקן לנצח, ואינו צריך עוד לשום תיקונים, הנה אז ישוב הב"ן להיות ס"ג, ובזה נגמר כל התיקון.
The meaning is as follows: All the rectifications apply only to the fourth level, which is called Malkhut and [also called] Nukba of Ze’er Anpin, or Ban (bet-nun) partzuf. The breaking of the vessels1The “breaking of the vessels” is a complex process that gives rise to the potential and capacity for rectification in the lower worlds. It takes place in the level of Sag of Nekudim. occurred on account [of the fourth level], as well as the sin of the Tree of Knowledge. All the work of the righteous during the six thousand years serves to return and rectify [the fourth level] back to its status before the breaking of the vessels and before the sin of Adam the first man. After [this rectification], the aforementioned great fusion of the head of the Atik Yomin will be revealed, which will uproot the kelippot and the Sitra Aḥara forever, in the mystical meaning of: “He will eliminate death forever etc.” (Isaiah 25:8). Since the Ban will have then already been rectified forever and will no longer require any rectifications, the Ban will return to be Sag (samekh-gimmel), and this will complete the entire rectification.

אמנם בינתים, דהיינו אחר הזווג הגדול דעתיק יומין, ומטרם שיבת הב"ן להיות ס"ג, יש ענין הסתלקות הארת גופא דעתיק, שבסבת הסתלקותו חרבו ב' בתי מקדשים, דהיינו ב' בחינות המוחין המאירות בב' מקדשין, שהן מוחין דאו"א עלאין שמאירים בבית ראשון, והמוחין דישסו"ת שהם מאירים בבית שני. וכלהו נהורין דישראל נחרבו ונסתלקו, כמ"ש לפנינו, אשר כל אלו החורבנות הם התיקונים האחרונים המשיבים את הב"ן להיות ס"ג, שהוא כל הנרצה.

Then the two temples will be rebuilt at the hands of Heaven, through the aspect of the partition of the second level, which is Bina, that is, by means of the partition of Sag of Adam Kadmon [which is positioned] before the second constriction, and which is considered clean of any constriction. (כנ"ל אות ד' ד"ה אדם ע"ש) שמכח השיתוף הזה האציל לפרצוף א"א דאצילות, וכלהו פרצופי אבי"ע יצאו ונתקיימו רק במלכות הזו המשותפת והממותקת במדת הרחמים שהיא בינה. ולפיכך כיון שנתבטלה בחינת המסך דב"ן, נתבטל עמה יחד המסך דבחי"ב שהוא ס"ג, בהיותם כרוכים יחד כאחד, וכיון שנתבטלו בחינת הנוקבא והמסך, א"כ נפסק הזווג עם האור העליון, וע"כ כל הארת הגוף דעתיק, שהיתה על המסך המשותף במדת הרחמים, נסתלקה לגמרי, וממילא נחרבו כל המאורות שממנו ולמטה, הנמשכים מגופא דעתיק.
The reason for the departure of the body of the [Atik Yomin] before these rectifications is that there are no more than two Nukbas in the ten sefirot: Bina and Malkhut, called Sag and Ban. וזה אמרו הוא הכה את שני אריאל מואב, תרין מקדשין הוו קיימין בגיניה וכו' כיון דאיהו אסתלק, נגידו דהוה נגיד מלעילא אתמנע, דהיינו כמבואר, כי מתוך שנתבטל הב"ן מכח הזווג הגדול דע"י, נתבטל עמו גם הס"ג, דהיינו גם המסך דבחי"ב עצמו, וכיון שאין המסך מוכשר לזווג, נפסק ע"כ האור העליון, שהוא נגידו דהוה נגיד מלעילא אתמנע, נגידו, פירושו המשכה והתפשטות האור העליון מעילא לתתא. והוא נפסק מטעם ביטול המסך, כמבואר. הרי, שמסבת הזווג הגדול שנעשה ברישא דע"י, נפסקה ונתבטלה השפעת האור מגופא דעתיק יומין, כי הזווג של הראש ביטל המסך דב"ן, וכיון שעד עתה היה המסך דב"ן מחובר עם המסך דס"ג בגופא דעתיק יומין כאחד, לכן נתבטל גם המסך דס"ג, וכיון שאין מסך לזווג דהכאה אין מקום לאור העליון להשפיע שם. כנודע.

This is [the meaning of the clause] “the flow [negido] that had been drawn forth from above was withheld.” Negido means the flow and spreading forth of the supernal light from above to below. It ceased on account of the nullification of the partition, as explained. Thus, due to the great fusion that occurred in the head of the Atik Yomin, the bestowal of light from the body of the Atik Yomin ceased and was nullified. The fusion of the head nullified the partition of Ban, and since until that point the partition of Ban had been joined with the partition of Sag in the body of the Atik Yomin as one, the partition of Sag was therefore nullified as well. And as there is [then] no partition for the fusion through collision, there is no room for the supernal light to bestow there, as is known.
