In the writings of Rabbi Chaim Vital, we begin with what he wrote regarding the knobs (כפתורים) on the Menorah, as mentioned in Exodus (Shemot) 25:33: "A knob, a round protruding apple." These knobs correspond to the world of angels, which are in a state of delight. The knob is the middle part of the Menorah that extends around it. The circle, which is the knob, represents the concept of having no beginning and no end, symbolizing the ultimate delight and its hidden mysteries.
The sages of truth, the Kabbalists, hinted at this concept in their teachings, referring to the circle as the dance. In the future, the Holy One, blessed be He, will make a circle for the righteous, and His glory will be among them. The dance has no beginning and no end, and thus it represents the infinite nature of the divine.
Rabbi Chaim Vital explains that the knobs are related to the aspect of the angels, and consequently, they are connected to their rectifications. He previously clarified the primary principles regarding the rectifications in the beginning of his writings. In the commentary on the Torah portion, he continues to explain that the clarifications (בירורים) of the angels are in the mystery of the worlds of Beriah, Yetzirah, and Asiyah (BY"A).
However, before delving into the clarifications of the angels, it is important to understand the concept of circles (עיגולים) and their connection to the worlds of BY"A. Rabbi Chaim Vital discusses the knobs, exploring their significance and their relationship to the worlds of Beriah, Yetzirah, and Asiyah.
