כָּתוּב אֶחָד אוֹמֵר (יחזקאל יא) וּכְמִשְׁפְּטֵי הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר סְבִיבוֹתֵיכֶם עֲשִׂיתֶם וְכָתוּב אַחֵר אוֹמֵר (שם ה) לֹא עֲשִׂיתֶם הָא כֵיצַד כַּמְּתֻקָּנִים שֶׁבָּהֶם לֹא עֲשִׂיתֶם כַּמְּקֻלְקָלִים שֶׁבָּהֶם עֲשִׂיתֶם.
"One verse says: 'after the ways of the surrounding nations you have done' (Ezek. 11:12), while in another verse it says [in contradiction] 'after the ways of the surrounding nations you have not done' (Ezek. 5:7). How can this be reconciled? As follows - their good ways you have not copied; their evil ones you have followed."
Один стих гласит (Йехезкель 11): «И по обычаям народов, которые вокруг вас, вы поступали». А другой стих гласит (там же, 5): «Вы не поступали [по ним]». Как же это [согласуется]? Как благоустроенные из них — вы не поступали, как испорченные из них — вы поступали.
