והנה כל זה שזכרנו עד עתה על צד המשפט מתבאר עוד על צד המציאות כפי אמתת סדריו וכמש״ל כי הנה בחטאים מתרבית הזוהמא ומתעצמת בבני האדם ובעולם וגורמת לאורו ית׳ שיסתר ויתעלם העלם על העלם וכפי התמרק הזוהמא הזאת והטהר הבריות ממנו כן חוזר אורו ית׳ ומתגלה גילוי על גילוי. ואמנם היסורין הם הממרקים את הזוהמא בין בפרט בין בכלל וע״י יסורי החשובים האלה מתמרקת והולכת לה מכלל הבריאה כלה ומתקרב העולם מדריגה אחר מדריגה אל השלימות:
But behold all that we have mentioned until now according to the angle of justice is also understood from the angle of what [needs to] occur, according to the truth of its arrangements, as we have written above. For note that with sins, pollution is increased and strengthened among people, and it causes His light, may He be blessed, to be hidden and concealed, with one concealment after another. And according to the removal of this pollution and the purification of the creatures from it; so does His light, may He be blessed, return and reveal one revelation after another. However the afflictions are what removes the pollution - whether for individuals or for the group. So through the afflictions of these important ones, it is continually removed from the whole entire creation, such that the world approaches perfection - one level after another.
Всё, что мы упоминали до сих пор с точки зрения суда, разъясняется также с точки зрения бытия, сообразно истинным его порядкам, как мы говорили. Ибо из-за грехов скверна умножается и укрепляется в людях и в мире и приводит к тому, что Его свет, да будет Он благословен, скрывается и утаивается — сокрытие за сокрытием. И по мере очищения этой скверны и освобождения от неё творений — Его свет, да будет Он благословен, возвращается и открывается — откровение за откровением. Страдания же очищают скверну — как в частности, так и в общем. И посредством страданий этих достойных людей скверна очищается и уходит из всего Творения в целом, и мир приближается ступень за ступенью к совершенству.
