הכה תכה — если ты не можешь умертвить их казнью, сказанной [в Торе], бей их другой казнью; и это повторение: הכה תכה.
הכה תכה, “you shall surely smite.“ The Torah means that if one is unable for one reason or another to execute the inhabitants of this town by judicial process one must see to it that the people are killed even by other than accepted judicial procedures. This is why the verb הכה is repeated here (compare Baba Metzia 31).

הכה תכה — «ты непременно поразишь». Тора подразумевает, что если по той или иной причине невозможно казнить жителей этого города судебным порядком, нужно позаботиться, чтобы люди были убиты также и не посредством принятых судебных процедур. Поэтому глагол הכה повторён здесь (ср. Бава Меция 31).
