ולמה בי"ת קרובה לה, מפני שהיא היתה תחילה, ולמה יש לה זנב, להראות מאיזה מקום היתה, וי"א שמשם נתקיים העולם:
[Rabbi Amorai continued,] “And why is [the letter] Bet close to her [the letter] Aleph]? Because she [Bet] was the beginning. And why does she have a tail? To show which place she was from. There are those that say from there the world is sustained."
И почему бет близка к ней? Потому что она была первой. И почему у неё есть хвост? Чтобы указать, откуда она произошла. А некоторые говорят, что оттуда мир получил своё существование.
